Who We Are

People in your community and all over the world partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With our help, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and their families.

What We Do

Habitat for Humanity of Douglas County was founded in 1997 and has built or renovated over 60 homes throughout Douglas County. Habitat homes are a hand-up. Homeowner families are selected by three main criteria: need for housing, willingness to partner and ability to pay an affordable mortgage. Each family invests hundreds of hours of their own labor--sweat equity--into building Habitat homes. Habitat is an equal housing opportunity.

Join Habitat build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter in our community!

We have many volunteer opportunities, both on and off the build site!
